The Art of Legacy

Honoring her parents’ legacy,
charting her own philanthropic path.

During their lifetimes, Donald and June Prigmore lovingly assembled an art collection and instilled in their daughter, Chris, a passion for the arts and a commitment to community. They hoped their various pieces of modern art and fine crafts could be kept together and displayed for the public’s benefit. So after inheriting the collection, Chris was determined to honor their wishes.

She reached out to Foundation For The Carolinas, with two goals in mind. First, she hoped to ensure the collection would be entrusted to an organization that would someday display it to the public at no cost. In addition, she wanted to support other causes that were close to her heart, such as arts education, programs that support reading and financial literacy, and the YMCA’s Camp Thunderbird, where she was a camper, counselor, and now is on the Board of Directors.

“In conversations with representatives of FFTC, I found that they fully understood and embraced the spirit of the fund I was seeking to create,” Chris explained. “That initial impression has been validated repeatedly over the past five years as I have grown to know the staff and their passion for the work they do, their clients and their community.”

In addition to donating the art collection to FFTC, her planned gift will create two funds. The Prigmore Family Fund will be a field of interest fund that will allow FFTC discretion in supporting programs that provide arts education, promote reading for enjoyment, and teach financial literacy. The Christine Prigmore Camp Thunderbird Endowment fund will be a designated fund that underwrites the cost for at-risk youth to attend the summer residential camp.

By establishing her planned gift, Chris Prigmore sought to support organizations and causes that promote the values and characteristics her parents instilled in her.

Wherever your charitable passion lies, Foundation For The Carolinas and our affiliates can help you establish an enduring legacy, honoring your commitment to the communities and causes you value most for generations to come.
