The Liza and Edie Burke Educational Fund was created to honor two sisters and the genuine, dynamic, playful and fierce way they gave back to the world.

The full and inspiring life of Liza Burke, a vibrant senior at UGA, ended in April 2023 after a six-week battle against an undiagnosed brain tumor that hemorrhaged while in Mexico on Spring Break with friends. Her older sister, Edie, passed away in 2008 due to the effects of a rare genetic disorder, mucopolysaccharidosis type 1 (MPS1).

Gifts to the Liza and Edie Burke Education Fund support educational opportunities for young people across the globe, including the Liza Burke Community Spirit Award at the University of Georgia.
